Children at the Summer History Camp
Our Education Programs
The education programs at John Jay Homestead are diverse and appeal to the youngest of audiences to adults. Parents or grandparents can come to share some time with their little ones, kids can enjoy our summer camp, teachers can bring their classes for field trips, and adults can enjoy well-known authors at our Scholars Lectures.
"Dear Ms. White:
I would like to thank you for all that you did to facilitate and coordinate our visit to the John Jay Homestead today.
This was a great learning experience for our students... They will be able to draw on the knowledge they acquired during this visit to create a deeper understanding of American history. It has cultivated in them a greater appreciation of the significance of John Jay and his work in the development of the United States...You provided the students with a rich educational experience that they could not have had without the generosity of the Margaret Mayo-Smith Bus fund grant."

SUMMER
HISTORY ADVENTURE DAYS
Each week will feature awesome activities,
fun games and exciting
special guests. History Adventure Days runs Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for
children entering 2nd through 6th grades. $300/week, with 15% discount
for members of Friends of John Jay Homestead.
The John Jay Homestead has developed all education
programs to meet
current State curriculum standards for U.S. and New York State
History.
These programs encourage students to use the critical thinking skills
of
a historian or social scientist by requiring them to read, analyze,
apply, synthesize and evaluate historical information.
The Education Committee of Friends of John Jay
Homestead have developed an incredible line-up of authors to come and
speak during our Scholars Lecture Series. The lectures are
preceded by a reception and book signing.
