Goodhue Lecture - Lucia "Cinder" Stanton wrote "Free Some Day: The
African-American Families of Monticello." Cinder, a Bedford native, has
worked at Monticello for more than 25 years, 10 as Director of Research.
Currently, she is the Shannon Senior Historian at Monticello, and the author
of two books on slavery at Monticello. The most recent book, mentioned
above, is a biographical account of six enslaved families. She is co-editor
of Thomas Jefferson's Memorandum Books (Princeton, 1997) and Jefferson
Abroad (New York, 1999), and is currently working on a book about the
Monticello plantation.
This lecture will begin at 7 p.m., preceded
by a reception at 6:30 p.m. and the Friends' Annual Meeting at 5:45 p.m.
This event is open to members only; reservations are required since seating
