The herb garden was created in 1991 on the site of an historic cutting garden and greenhouse. The herb garden was designed by Page Dickey, a garden designer, writer, and member of the New York Unit of the Herb Society of America. The main paths radiating from the center divide the beds into four quadrants of herbal plants: medicinal, culinary, fragrant, and pest repellent. Members of the Herb Society maintain the herb garden.
