John Jay Homestead is on the list of New York State parks
and historic sites that are scheduled to be closed unless funding is
appropriated from the Environmental Protection Fund. For 30 years, Friends of John Jay Homestead has partnered
with New York State to preserve and restore the 62 acre farm of one of
America's most illustrious founding fathers. We are enormously surprised
that the John Jay Homestead is even under consideration for closure.
We call upon our New York State legislators and the Governor
to enact a budget that keeps this site open so we can continue with our active
schedule of education programming, special events and restoration projects. With
short-term stability, the Friends will be able to continue the job we have been
doing so well for 30 years -- supporting the long-term growth of this important
site while contributing to the cultural and economic life of our
community.
Our task is urgent: We need to persuade our elected representatives to vote those funds and
keep the John Jay Homestead going through this budget crisis.
Here is how you can help:
Click Here to go to the New York League of Conservation Voters page and have an email sent to all the local representatives voicing your support for the State parks and historic sites.
Write or email your legislators (listed below) and tell them what the Homestead
means to you and why it should remain open.
